Start With a Clean, Slow Walk-Around

Dust and road film hide small changes. Wash the vehicle in the shade, dry it with a clean microfiber towel, and then walk around it in daylight. Look from a low angle across the hood, roof, and trunk so changes in gloss, texture, dents, and clear coat are easier to see.

Photograph anything you want to monitor. A dated close-up and a wider image make it easier to tell whether a chip, crack, gap, or peeling area is changing over time.

Protect Your Paint

Sun exposure, heat cycles, contamination, washing technique, and finish condition all affect paint over time. Parking in a garage or shade when practical, removing bird droppings promptly, washing out of direct sun, and using a compatible wax or sealant according to its instructions can help protect intact clear coat.

Check Collision-Related Exterior Attachments

Heat and highway airflow do not create a broken retainer, but they can make an already-loose body piece more noticeable. Without crawling under the vehicle, look and listen for:

• Bumper corners and lower trim that sit away from the adjacent panel or move after a prior impact.
• Wheel-well liners and splash shields that rub a tire, scrape, or hang below their normal position.
• Moldings, mirror caps, and rocker trim with missing clips or a new gap.
• Lamps and lamp mounting areas that are loose, cracked, fogged with moisture, or no longer sit evenly.

Look at Previous Repair and Impact Areas

If the vehicle was previously hit or repaired, compare the affected side with the other side. Look for a bumper edge that has moved, a door or hood that closes differently, paint lifting at an edge, exposed metal, moisture around a lamp, or a new rattle over bumps.

Those observations are not a diagnosis. They are useful details to share with the repair facility so it can decide whether a visual inspection is enough or whether repair planning requires authorized access, diagnostics, or measurements.

Do Not Skip Tires, Cooling, AC, or the Battery

Those systems matter in summer, but they are outside Drive Auto Body's stand-alone collision and paint scope. Follow the pressures and maintenance information in the owner's manual and door placard, and use a qualified tire or mechanical provider for warning lights, leaks, overheating, weak air conditioning, battery concerns, worn tires, or other mechanical symptoms.

• Use the door placard—not the tire sidewall—as the vehicle manufacturer's pressure reference.
• Do not remove a radiator cap from a hot engine.
• If a tire has a bulge, exposed cord, rapid pressure loss, or impact damage, limit driving and contact a tire professional.
• If the temperature warning appears or the vehicle overheats, move to a safe place and follow the owner's manual or roadside-assistance instructions.

Check Seals, Glass, and Interior Surfaces

Look for torn weather stripping, water traces in the trunk, moisture inside a lamp, a windshield chip, or a crack that has changed. Use a qualified glass provider for stand-alone glass repair and ask whether the vehicle requires calibration after replacement. A sunshade and shade can reduce direct solar exposure inside the parked vehicle; follow product instructions for cleaners and conditioners used on interior materials.

Post-Accident Summer Repairs

Exposed metal, chipped paint, a loose exterior part, changed panel gap, or damaged seal is worth documenting and inspecting. The urgency depends on whether the issue affects safe operation, allows contact with a tire or moving part, exposes sharp edges, admits water, or continues to spread.
